The Background

FlexVet started with a simple observation: veterinary care was changing. Josh, a practicing veterinarian in one of Toronto’s busiest hospitals, saw phones ringing nonstop and staff pulled from exams to handle “quick questions.” Client expectations were rising faster than clinics could respond.

A new generation of pet parents wanted answers on their terms — refill requests, late-night concerns, or reassurance about a pet’s behavior. The traditional front desk could no longer keep pace.
Josh shared these insights with his brother, Rafi, a technology operator who had spent years building platforms to modernize client communication in other industries. Together, they saw the gap: clinics needed a safe, modern way to guide pet parents in real time — without adding new burdens to staff or crossing into medical decision-making.
